Philosophy

A core belief that motivates my programs are that no two goalies are alike. Although they may share a similar style of play, each goaltender has different strengths and different areas of need. My teaching technique builds upon and improves the abilities of each goalie as an individual. In addition, I incorporate cooperative learning opportunities that enable goalies to learn off the ice. I feel that it is crucial to create an environment where goalie partners learn to assist one another in spotting common mistakes.

There has been a shift in focus from the uniqueness of the goaltender’s individual abilities and needs to adhere to a particular style of play. By playing goal this way completely disregards the personality of the individual goalie. As a client of Post2post Goaltending, I make it crucial to avoid this method of teaching and teach to the style of each goalie.

Part of the program that I teach also includes development in the mental part of the game, including: focus, preparation and dealing with complex situations. There are techniques that I teach to help goalies deal with the pressures that come with challenging and rewarding position.

Success: Developing talent. Post2post Goaltending is a one man operation. I don’t have a stable of young goalies that work for me. Every time you hire Post2post Goaltending, you hire the experience of Anthony Marshall. Goalies require different drills, drills that compliment their style and to do this properly each goalie needs a custom training program. I take great pleasure in getting to know my goalies, and teaching each goalie in a way that best suits them.
